About Department

The Department of Hotel Management has been set up in accordance with international hospitality standards in terms of infrastructure. It is well equipped to provide state-of-the-art facilities to students reinforcing our commitment to assure every student makes the most out of the time spent in the campus. The department has adequate facilities to support teaching, learning and research activities under the mentorship of experienced and highly qualified faculty members. The faculty members uniquely integrate academic excellence with practical application aimed towards producing professionals who will not be just hoteliers, but also dynamic agents of change and innovation in the field of hospitality and tourism. 

The department aims to equip the students with the best of human values and professional skills. It adopts a holistic approach towards education and believes in imparting experiential learning to the students aspiring to make a career in the business of hospitality and allied service sectors. It believes in nurturing students not only with the intention of developing a positive attitude in them but also making them conversant with the latest trends and contemporary practices of the hospitality industry. To ensure that the students imbibe the latest methodologies and approaches being adopted by the prominent players in the field of hospitality, specialized lectures and demonstrations by the hotel professionals and experts along with visits to various hotels and service industry is organized on a regular basis. The department aims at providing knowledge & skill blended with the right attitude to succeed in the field of hotel and tourism business.

The Department of Hotel Management, IES University has been ranked 3rd in the Category of Promising Hotel Management Institutes in India and 1st rank in the State of Madhya Pradesh in GHRDC Hotel Management Institute Survey 2021.

Infrastructure

The Department gives importance to the facilities and learning resources and continuously ensures that the students have full access to everthing they need for the fulfillment of their learning at the campus. The Department is equipped with Basic Training Kitchen, Quantity Food Training Kitchen, Advanced Training Kitchen, Bakery & Confectionery, Housekeeping Lab, Model Guest Rooms, Training Restaurant with Bar, Front Office Lab, Computer Application Lab with Opera software, Library & Resource Centre, Digital Classrooms, and other facilities to make it an ideal educational centre.

Dr. Bhupesh Kumar

Principal, IHM Ranchi

Dr. Bhupesh Kumar, Principal, Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition (SIHM) Ranchi is an alumnus of IHM Bhubaneswar. He has completed Ph.D. in Tourism and Hospitality Discipline on Crisis Management in Hotels from IGNOU. He has done Masters Degree in Tourism Management, from MK University.

He started his career from Food and Beverage Production department as an Instructor from Indian Institute of Science & Management, Ranchi, Jharkhand. Then he associated himself with Vivekanand Institute of Hotel & Tourism Management, Rajkot, Gujarat as a Lecturer in Food & Beverage Production. He also looked after the Training & Placement of Students for India and Abroad. After 2 years as a lecturer he was given the responsibility as an HOD for Food & Beverage Production and Housekeeping department.

He is having a good experience of 21 years in Academics and Training. He is an Ex-Chief Editor of Indian Journal of Applied Hospitality and Tourism Research a reputed journal of Hospitality Industry in India; also he is an expert in NAAC Accreditation and ISO 9001:2008.

Mr. Tushar Abrol

Learning and Development Manager

Indian Hotels Company Limited - IHCL

Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand & MP

Tushar, in his last role was Learning & Development Manager with L&D Hub – Del & NCR. He has been with IHCL across multiple locations in India including Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Dubai and Gurugram.

He has over 15 years of experience in L&D, Operations and Management Training assignments with sound exposure in Front Office. He has completed his MBA in International Hospitality and Service Industries Management with General Management Specialization from Glion Institute of Higher Education, Switzerland and professional certifications from various leading institutions.

In his current role, among other areas, he is actively assisting Corporate L&D instrategizing, piloting and rolling out initiatives for the entire group. He has worked on several projects around different properties of IHCL, including conducting career counselling programs for schools.

He is a health-conscious person who finds peace in music and food and loves to explore the world. Spending time with family and friends is what makes him the happiest.

 

Dr. Sandeep Kulshrestha

Professor, Indian Institute of Tourism & Travel Management, Gwalior

Presently he is working at Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management, Gwalior. He is serving as Sr. Vice President of Indian Tourism and Hospitality Congress (ITHC). In past he has served as Director, IITTM; President Indian Tourism and Hospitality Congress; Chairman- AICTE Board of Tourism & Hospitality. Dr. Kulshreshtha is a noted academician in Indian Tourism Education, specialized in the field of Marketing and Capacity Building.  He also served as the chief coordinator for the capacity building programs, guide training program and entrepreneurship development programs of Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. He has represented India at many international forums. Sixteen research scholars have completed Ph.D. under his guidance. He has published five books & more than 55 papers on different themes related to Management and Tourism. He has visited 46 countries on different Academic Assignments.

 

Dr. Prashant K. Gautam

Professor, Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management (UIHTM), Panjab University, Chandigarh

Dr. Gautam is currently a Dean faculty of Hospitality Tourism and Travel at Punjab Technical University, Punjab. He is also a Director – Sports at Panjab University, Chandigarh. Dr. Prashant was a Member of Himachal Pradesh State Higher Educational Council (HPSHEC), Govt. Of Himachal Pradesh (2019 onwards). Treasurer: ITHC (Indian Tourism and Hospitality Congress): A National Association of Indian Tourism & Hospitality Academics. (2014 Onwards). Dr. Gautam holds more than 14 books under his name and he has published more than 63 research papers and is also a guide of 05 PHD scholars

 

Mr. Thirugnanasambantham K

He is an accomplished chef, an erudite academician, a conversant leader, and a proficient administrator with 31 years of expertise & experience – both in hotel operations & academics. Scholastically, he is Master of Science, Master of Business Administration, and Master of Philosophy. He is adorned as a Distinguished Member of the esteemed “Institute of Hospitality”, London. He received the “Best Principal Award2020” at Global Education Skills MSME & Entrepreneurship Summit Leadership Award on 5th Sep 2020 from International Chamber for Service Industry. He is the recipient of “Outstanding Achiever Award 2019” for his immense contribution in the field of Culinary Arts by ‘Indian Federation of Culinary Associations’.

 

Mr. Rishabh Tandon

Mr. Rishabh Tandon is the Area Director - Human Resources with Intercontinental Hotels Group. He passionately drives People Strategy for 12 IHG hotels in India. Rishabh has grown with IHG and handled multiple roles in L&D, HR and Social Media (Employer Branding). He has received multiple accolades for his leadership including the Forbes India Top 100 People Manager 2019, Best Hospitality Personality Award and HR Team of the Year - 2019 and 2020. IHG hotel brands in India include Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, Intercontinental and Holiday Inn Expresses.

Prof. (Dr.) Manohar Sajnani

Dean Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism and Director Amity Institute of Travel and Tourism, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida

Prof. (Dr.) Manohar Sajnani is an experienced academician &researcher in Tourism & Hospitality Management with experience of more than 27 years both at teaching, Research and academic administration. He has received Best Professor in Hospitality & Tourism by Safari India & Pacific Area Travel Writers Association. He is recipient of Award of Honor by Travel Industry initiative for thought leadership “Ayanaant”.  He has acquired Knowledge & Research Skills, communication & interpersonal skills and experience with the objective of development & growth of the organization.  He is researching, lecturing, advising and consulting Tourism and Hospitality organizations and his books and publications are referred to widely by all sections of Tourism and Hospitality industry. He is known for engaging audience during his keynote presentations and deliberations at seminars and conferences globally. He has more than 35 publications in Scopus, web of science, UGC-Care & in –eminent refereed journals.

Mr. Rajeev Goyal

President India Food Tourism Organization, New Delhi

Chef Rajeev Goyal is one of more popular names in culinary tourism field of India. He is the co-founder of India’s oldest culinary tour company, India Food Tour and has been leading a number of culinary activities like food tours, cooking classes, spice introductions, tea tasting tours in New Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Varanasi, Udaipur, Kochi and a few others in India since 2011.

His food tours and cooking classes have won Tripadvisor’s Certificate of Excellence annually since 2012 and have been featured in a number of publications including Time of India, Hindustan Times, Navbharat Times and many others.

He operated a popular Indian restaurant and provided consultancy to a number of restaurants and gastronomy related businesses over the years. He also provides guidance and mentorship to students and professionals in the culinary and tourism fields in addition to working guest lecturer in a few educational institutions. 

His long work in the culinary field, extensive travels across the world and experience of operating a fine dining restaurant makes him one of the best people in India to lead a culinary tour.

In its pursuit to meet the contemporary needs of the hospitality industry, the Department of Hotel Management has signed MOU with Kareer Krafters India Pvt. Ltd. on 17th August 2021. This collaboration will help the students of hotel management to gain international exposure by getting opportunities for internships, final placements and student exchange in various countries like USA, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, Mauritius, France, Germany, UK, New Zealand, to name a few.
