About the Department 

Department of Ayurveda & Community has been established under the aegis of IES University, Bhopal. The University is well established and has made a prestigious position in central India by providing value added quality education and ensuring overall development of students Department of Ayurveda & Community offers four and half years bachelor (B.A.M.S.)  course. The department has well-furnished digital class rooms, laboratories with sophisticated and modern instruments, software and library with more than 2500 volumes of text and reference books and subscribed e-journals. The campus is equipped with free wi-fi facility. The department is striving towards greater heights with its teamwork and concerted efforts. It is the individual and collective contribution of each member in achieving this milestone with a great sense of satisfaction and fulfillment. The key objective of the department is to impart quality education in Ayurveda profession in a world class ambience. To achieve, this department has well qualified and competent faculty members.

Message from the Vice Chancellor

One of the most widely experienced leaders in higher education, known for his commitment to expanding student opportunity, catalyzing academic innovation, Dr. Naveen Chandra has a vast experience in the fields of Industry and Education and has advanced the university’s commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and public service and has fostered collaboration across IES University’s different colleges and departments. Under his leadership, IES University has pursued initiatives to enhance the undergraduate experience, deepen graduate and professional education, and research in critical fields.

Dr. Chandra obtained his Bachelor's degree in 1969 and Master Degree in 1971 from Lucknow University and Ph.D. from Banaras Hindu University - BHU, Varanasi in 1974 and has published over 170 Research papers in International and National Journals and worked on several funded research projects and has 19 patents (Granted/Filled).

While at IES, Dr. Chandra has emerged as a recognized champion of expanding research work, also advocating vigorously for governmental support of university-based research. He has worked to engender novel connections across academic disciplines of IES University. He has also strengthened relations between IES University and governmental agencies and has expanded the outreach to alumni and their parents.

As Vice-Chancellor, he has guided the institute’s efforts in undergraduate education, research initiatives, and industrial partnerships, while playing an integral role in reviewing faculty appointments and promotions across IES Group. He is the author or co-author of many books and numerous scholarly articles on topics related to environmental issues, economics and technology, mentoring students interested in careers in professional education, teaching in faculty development programs, and writing and speaking on salient topics in higher education – innovations in learning, academic freedom, the impact of digital technologies, among others.

Through the course of his work, he has received many Awards and Honors for his contributions like: 1. National Research and Development Council Award in 1985, 2. L.S Jha Award by State of Madhya Pradesh in 2009, 3. Ramadhar Award in 1982, 4. DAAD Award in 2001, 5. Distinguished Fellowship in Science Award by ICSU/UNESCO in 1984 among others.

Education is the key for a bright future, so at IES University we aim at developing our students not just academically but we provide the environment for research, skill development and co-curricular activities for holistic development of our students. Dr. Sawale has a B-Pharm. degree from S. R. T. M. U., Nanded and an M-Pharm. from U. D. P. S. Nagpur University, Nagpur. He has earned his PhD from RKDF University, Bhopal. He was awarded Junior Research Fellowship by University Grants Commission, Ministry of Human Resources, Government of India for the period 2003- 2005.

He has more than fifteen years of rich work experience in college administration and has undertaken various assignments at academic and research institutions.

In his academic and administrative career, he has taken an active interest in coordinating the academic and research activities and extended all possible support to the student and faculty members, as a primary stakeholder of IES University. He has original ideas and creative thinking, besides being a facilitator by nature and has a bent for innovation. His approach is very much appreciated by the employees and management of IES University.

Additionally, he coordinates with various Affiliation bodies like AICTE, RGTU and others, in the areas of course information, grading, degree progress, certification of enrollment and administration of examinations among others.
